Christoph Mangler, born 1974 in Leutkirch (South Germany), is a director, photographer, editor and color grader. He studied "audiovisual media" at the HDM Stuttgart with focus on film, video, computer animation and graphics and entered the music video business in 1997 as assistant director at DoRo Berlin. In 1999 the directing team TWODIRECTORS was established together with Mathias Vielsäcker, first represented by the berlin based film production BLOW FILM. Since this year Christoph, a.k.a. DerMangler, directed about 100 music videos for German and international acts, for example: THE RASMUS, APOCALYPTICA, SUCH A SURGE, CALIBAN, MNEMIC, TAPE, EMIL BULLS, KEILERKOPF, 4LYN, SINCERE, KLEZ.E, FEHLFARBEN, SURF, PAULA, BIZ MARKIE, CURSE, ASD, DJ STYLEWARZ, LAURA LOPEZ CASTRO, SCAB, GREEN.FROG.FEET and KARMADEVA. But Christoph is not just a director. He also works as camera operator, editor, color grader and as teacher at the BABELSBERG FILM SCHOOL.
In the years 2007, 2008 and 2009 Christoph has been the director of the film department of the COCA-COLA SOUNDWAVE DISCOVERY-TOUR, the biggest music newcomer event in Germany. Over the last 3 years he directed interviews and live gigs with multi camera recording for international and national top acts like THE KOOKS, RAZORLIGHT, MAXIMO PARK, ADAM GREEN, WE ARE SCIENTISTS, BIFFY CLYRO, PAOLO NUTINI, REAMONN, DATAROCK and more than 50 other bands.
Photography is his second passion. The first photography book CITY LANGUAGE BERLIN (www.citylanguage.com) was released in march 2006 by PRESTEL. It's a photo documentation about the "back side" of Berlin like never seen before. The second photography book BERLIN SAGT (www.berlinsagt.de) was published in march 2010 by PRESTEL. It comes directly from the street and shows, what the people of Berlin think.
